Important Notes for Assigning Controls
When assigning the rudder control, always use the tiller handle and put the ShipDriver in Tiller Mode (Blue button 7, the ShipDriver display should read “-1-“). Center the tiller before selecting the rudder control and move the tiller quickly to the end of its range. Center the tiller again before assigning the action for the opposite direction.
When assigning throttle and thruster controls always start with the control lever centered and move it quickly to the end of its range in the desired direction.
Rocker switches and the horn lever may trigger the same command in either direction by assigning one direction to the primary input and the other direction to the secondary input in Ship Simulator.
As of this writing not all shortcuts in Ship Simulator Extremes are functional. We will update our information as VSTEP releases updates.
Troubleshooting
Issue: The ShipDriver controls don't work.
- Answer: There may be a number of causes for this
- ShipDriver must be plugged in before Ship Simulator is started. Try closing and restarting Ship Simulator.
- Ship Simulator does not allow the user to control the ship in Walk through View. Change to another view.
- Most controls on the ShipDriver need to be assigned in Ship Simulator Options. Check to see if the control causing the issue is properly assigned (see above).
Issue: The Tiller control is not working correctly
- Answer: Check the following
- The steering control key must be pointing up when the tiller is attached (click to see image). Remover the tiller and check the position of the key.
- ShipDriver must be in Tiller Mode. Check the display. "-1-" indicates Tiller Mode. "-2-" indicates Wheel Mode. Press the seventh blue button on the top row to put the ShipDriver into Tiller Mode.
